Israa Al-Hassi, 9, was killed by Israeli forces' gunfire east of Deir al-Balah, in central Gaza, following an Israeli ground incursion into the area on September 1, 2026. Al-Aqsa Hospital reported two other Palestinians wounded in the same incident.
The killing was one of at least four deaths in Gaza that day, including three children, according to UN spokesperson Stephane Dujarric, who told reporters the UN remained concerned about the impact of continued Israeli strikes and military operations on civilians in the territory.
Her name is spelled inconsistently across outlets reporting this incident, including al-Hissy, al-Hissi, and al-Hasmi. We use Al-Hassi per our ground correspondent's caption.
